In 2014, James Rainbird, Director of Truffle Specialist Finance, took part in the Velindre Cancer Centre’s 515km East Coast Bike Challenge, a five-day event aimed at raising funds and awareness for cancer treatment and research. The challenge involved around 60 cyclists, including celebrities and cancer survivors, riding from Boston to New York City to support Velindre’s vital work.
The route showcased the scenic landscapes of the East Coast, with participants navigating tough stretches of road, steep hills, and varied weather conditions. Key highlights included passing through historic towns like Plymouth and reaching the Manhattan skyline after days of challenging riding.
The funds raised during the challenge, which totaled around £600,000, will support Velindre’s mission of providing top-quality cancer care, treatment, and research for patients and families across the UK.
